Anderson, Helen Jean
Helen Jean Anderson, of Neenah, passed away Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at Theda Clark Medical Center. She was born on June 19, 1913, daughter of the late Nicholas and Margaret (Welling) Entringer in St. Cloud, Wisconsin. Helen was raised in Fond du Lac and graduated from Fond du Lac High School. She received her RN degree from St. Agnes School of Nursing in 1934.
Helen married Dr. Gerhard R. Anderson of Neenah on September 25, 1937 at St. Mary's Church in Fond du Lac. They lived in Neenah for many years and raised three children. Helen enjoyed cooking, sewing, golf and music. She could play the piano by ear.
Helen was the 1st Vice-President of Theda Clark Hospital Auxiliary of Neenah and was a past president of the Tuesday Club of North Shore Country Club of Menasha. Helen spent many winters in Pompano Beach, FL., and lived at the Henrietta Apartments in Winchester, named after her mother-in-law, for over 20 years. Since January, she resided at Peabody Manor, Appleton.
Survivors include three children: Dr. Gay R. Anderson, Winneconne; Annette (John) Gleason, St. Louis, MO; Larry (Lori) Anderson, Elgin, IL; seven grandchildren: Gunnar Anderson; Jennifer Van Hoven; Sally Henriksen; Heather Lloyd; Ellis Anderson; Bret Anderson; Hayley Anderson; seven great-grandchildren; and a brother-in-law, Rev. Virgil Anderson, Weyburn, SK, Canada. Helen was a loving aunt to Janet Alsteen, Long Grove, IL; James "Bill" Entringer, Scottsdale, AZ; Lona George, Winchester, WI; Lee Anderson, Green Bay; and Raymond "Chip" Entringer, Plano, TX.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband; 2 brothers: Jerry Entringer and Raymond Entringer; a sister, Jennie Frei; a granddaughter, Terry Jean Anderson; and a grandson, Brion Anderson.
Helen's Mass of Christian Burial will be held TODAY at 11:00 A.M. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 210 Pleasant Dr., Winneconne, Fr. Doug LeCaptain officiating. The visitation will be held at the church from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service. Entombment will be in the Shrine of Heaven Mausoleum, at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Neenah. Memorials may be sent to the Henrietta Foundation, 5326 Cty Rd. II, Larsen, WI 54947, or to St. Mary's Church, 210 Pleasant Cr., Winneconne, WI 54986.
Helen's family would like to extend a special thank you to her niece, Lona George, Cleo McNamee, Sally Wiese, and the caring staff of Peabody Manor for their loving support.

My sympathy goes out to Dr. Gay Anderson and the whole family. I worked for him for over 10 years and have many wonderful memories of his mother, Helen.
