Hildebrand Sr., Fredric L.
Fredric Lee Hildebrand, Sr., M.D. of Neenah, WI, died peacefully on January 4, 2014, surrounded by his family, from complications of dementia. He was born on January 20, 1934 in Madison, WI, the son of the late William B. Hildebrand, M.D., and Helen Hasty Hildebrand. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, received his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania, and completed his Internal Medicine and Pulmonary Medicine training at the Mayo Clinic.
Fritz is survived by his two sisters, Nancy Taylor of New York, NY, Patricia Faverty of Port Townsend, WA, his three children, Dr. Fredric (Sarah) L. Hildebrand, Jr. of Neenah and their children Henry and Charlie; Karl Hildebrand of Madison, WI; Katharine (David) Lippincott of Oak Park, IL, and their son Stuart; and his grandchildren Ben and Caroline Hildebrand of Ridgefield, CT. Fritz was preceded in death by his wife Sara and his son William B. Hildebrand, II.
Fritz joined his father and his uncle George Hildebrand, M.D., in medical practice at the Riverside Medical Clinic in Menasha, WI, in 1964. Through his tireless recruiting efforts the multi-specialty practice grew rapidly, merging with the Twin Cities Clinic to form the Nicolet Clinic, and then the Medical Arts Clinic to form the LaSalle Clinic. The LaSalle Clinic became Affinity Medical Group after joining the Affinity Health System. He served as president of each clinic.
During his forty-one years of medical practice, Fritz was dedicated to the personal treatment of his patients and the advancement of superior medical care in the Fox Valley. He helped to establish the first local intensive care unit at Theda Clark Medical Center in Neenah and started the kidney dialysis and pulmonary rehabilitation programs there. He was the first area doctor to have a nurse practitioner, Marilyn Shutte, as a part of his practice. They worked together for thirty-one years.
Fritz was devoted to his family and friends. He was an avid marathon runner and skier, and with his wife Sara he followed his passions for world travel, music, literature, the Northwoods, and Badger sports during their fifty-six years of marriage.
A memorial service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church, 200 Church Street, Neenah on Friday, January 10, at 11:00 am. The family will greet everyone following the service at a reception in the Fellowship Hall. A memorial fund has been established in Fritz's name at the First Presbyterian Church.

Fritz was my Doctor for many years. It was fun when we would run into each other up north. He will be greatly missed. He was such a funny man, and so kind. My condolences to the family. Strange, George and Bill were also my doctors when younger above meat market in Menasha. He and I used to laugh about the coincidence.
