Larson, Arland J.
Arland Jerome Larson, beloved husband, wonderful father and grandfather, age 83, passed away on Friday, March 7, 2014, at Appleton Healthcare Center with his family by his side. He was born on February 3, 1931 in Navarino, WI; the son of the late Clarence and Lillian (Simons) Larson. He graduated from Neenah High School. Arland was united in marriage on July 21, 1951 to Jean Nabbefeldt, in Menasha. Their marriage was blessed with four children. Arland was a gentle, kind and loving man. He could fix anything. Arland enjoyed spending time with his best friend, Bob. Together they had great woodworking projects including making guitars, from log to finished product. Arland was a family man and loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Arland is going to be missed by his loving wife of 62 years, Jean, one son, Alan (Jennifer) Larson, three daughters: Carolyn Dosdos, Cathy VanElzen and Liann Larson; nine grandchildren: Boden (Dannyelle) Larson, Derrek Larson, Jeremy and Jessica Wittman, Jorge, Alexander and Brandon Dosdos, Christopher (Amber) Porter and Madeline VanElzen; four great-grandchildren: Amara Porter, Aurora and Keevan Howell and Adam Larson; one sister, Luella Wittman. He is further survived by nieces, nephews and dear friends. Arland was preceded by his parents, parents-in-law, Otto and Tillie Nabbefeldt, two sons-in-law, William Porter and Roy P. Dosdos, granddaughter, Lisa Mae Larson, brother, Clarmen Larson, and three brothers-in-law, John Wittmann, Lyle Nabbefeldt and Wayne Nabbefeldt.
A private celebration of life for close family and friends will be taking place at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 14, 2014, at Appleton Healthcare Center, 2915 N. Meade Street, Appleton, with gathering time from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers a memorial is being established.
The family would like to thank all the staff at Appleton Healthcare Center for their compassion and care provided for Arland as well as the staff from Heartland Hospice Care.
