Stanton, Betty L.
Betty L. Stanton, of Neenah, age 56, lost her courageous battle against cancer on Tuesday, January 29, 2013, at home, while surrounded by her family. She was born May 6, 1956, daughter of the late Donald and Cecilia (Strong) Thurber.
Betty married Anthony Stanton on September 8, 1979 in Appleton. She was loving and devoted for their 39 years together. She was employed with Kimberly-Clark for over 20 years. Betty then graduated from Fox Valley Technical College with a Medical Office Assistant's degree. She worked for Appleton Spine Institute until unable to work due to illness.
Betty's family was very important to her. She enjoyed shopping, playing softball, and watching the Packers, especially Donald Driver. Christmas was always her favorite holiday and the "Santa" hat tradition will continue.
Survivors include her husband, Anthony; two children: Jeremy (Sallee) Stanton, Tara (David) Corneil; five grandchildren: Olivia and Abigail Stanton, Trevor, Dylan and Nolan Corneil; her mother-in-law, Gladys Stanton; 13 brothers and sisters: Carol Alderton, Richard Thurber Sr., Tom Thurber, Jim (Alice) Thurber, Mary (Russell) Butzer, Rose (Joe) Keifer, Linda (George) Ciuplinski, Mike (Carol) Thurber, Dave (Paula) Thurber, Robert (Sandy) Thurber, Joanne (Rick) Winters, Diane (Gordy) Peterson, (Netty) Thurber and (Judy Miles); 9 brother and sisters-in-law: Christopher (June) Stanton, Monica (Al) Kahl, Beth Young, Kathy (Larry) Sicard, Linda (Jeff) Grunska, Lisa (Walt) Huebschman, Margaret (Jon) Potratz, Ann (Mike) Hoernke, Dennis Huycke; and numerous other relatives.
Betty was preceded in death by her step-father, Frederick "Fritz" Smith; father-in-law, William Stanton, two brothers: Donald Thurber Jr., John Thurber; and a sister and brothers-in-law, Maureen (Ron) Fluette (Bill) Young.
The funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, February 2, 2013, at Neenah's Westgor Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Rademaker officiating. The visitation will be held at the funeral home Saturday from 12:00 PM until the hour of service. In lieu of flowers a memorial is being established in her name.
