Beverly J. Ayres, age 83 years, of Weyauwega (formerly of Clintonville) passed away Tuesday, December 25, 2012 at Appleton Medical Center.
The former Beverly Jane Samz was born July 11, 1929 in Clintonville to Joseph and Flora (Herminath) Samz. On December 1, 1945 she was married to Henry J. Bernitt at St. Rose Catholic Church, Clintonville. Over the years, on Bernitt Road the couple owned & operated a tavern, a gas station, and a salvage yard. Beverly retired in 1996 and her husband preceded her in death on Jan. 20, 1997. She was always most proud of being a devoted wife and loving mother. Beverly was united in marriage on December 11, 1997 to James F. Ayres at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Zephyrhills, FL. While the couple lived in Florida they enjoyed remodeling and selling homes. They moved back to this area in 2005. Beverly is a member of St. Martin Lutheran Church, Clintonville, and a former member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post #456, Caroline. She liked knitting, crocheting, and making craft projects. Beverly especially loved her family, her cats, cardinals, collecting dolls and angels.
Survivors include her husband, Jim, and four children: Connie Gard of Marion, Sally (Bill) Wendt of De Forest, Jamie (Mark Bendixen) Ayres of New London, and Paula Ayres of Virginia. There is one son-in-law, Michael Daley of Pella. There are 6 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Beverly is further survived by a brother, John (Emily) Samz of Shiocton, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Henry, a daughter, Margaret Daley, and a granddaughter, Stephanie Mielke.
Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, December 29th at 11:00 AM at St. John Lutheran Church, Town of Grant. Rev. Vilas Mazemke will officiate and burial will be in the spring at Graceland Cemetery, Clintonville. Friends may call on Saturday from 10:00 AM until time of service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family are preferred.
