Bruce Von Barkhausen, 78, of Sherwood, WI, passed away on January 21, 2013, in Scottsdale, AZ, his home away from home. Born on March 5, 1934 to Alexis and Gladys Barkhausen, Bruce grew up in Milwaukee. He entered the Army at 21 and served his country during the Vietnam War. After the Army, he attended Bellarmine University in Louisville, KY, before employment at Dun & Bradstreet for 29 years. Bruce moved to the Appleton area in 1970. Bruce was a social guy and had many friends from his days as a thespian in plays at Xavier HS & The University of WI Fox Valley Theatre, his love of playing the piano for all who would listen, and his gift for writing poetry. He loved living in Sherwood, sailing his boat and later having senior lunch, served by good friend, Kathy at the Sherwood Community Center. He was involved in his church, the American Legion, and the Sherwood Lions Club.

He will be truly missed by all, especially his long-time friend, Mary Saunders and her family, good buddy Rick Rebman and his many helpful friends and neighbors. Bruce is survived by two daughters, Schoen (John) Sangalli of La Grange, KY; and Tara (Anthony) Rucci of Dublin, OH; and four granddaughters. Bruce is also survived by two sisters, Susan (Norm) Goldsmith of Phoenix, AZ; and Jeanette (Mike) Roncke of Rockton, IL.

A Memorial service will be held at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Sherwood WI, on Saturday February 23, 2013, at 11 a.m. Memorial gifts may be made to Christ the King Lutheran Church.
