Charles Arthur Heinz
Charles Heinz, 83, Menasha, died Friday, February 28, 2014, at Prairie Homes. Charles was born October 14, 1930, in Appleton, son of Edward and Rose (Heidger) Heinz. He married Grace Rivet on November 4, 1950, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Menasha. Chuck owned a bicycle repair shop before beginning his duties as alderman for the City of Menasha. He served on many city committees and ran for mayor in 1978. He was also employed by American Can/James River Corporation, Menasha for 44 years. Charles enjoyed hiking, fishing, boating, playing sports with his family, and listening to them play the piano.
Charles is survived by his wife, Grace; sons: Daniel (Becky), David (Kathy), and Chris (Patty); daughters: Susan Heinz, Nancy (Dan) Zelinski, and Cathy Heinz; grandchildren: Zachary and Alex Zelinski, and Jack Heinz; brothers: Eugene "Bob" (Beulah) and Ron (Joan) Heinz; brothers-in-law: Arlen Schroeder, Donald "Pete" Peterson, and Robert Rivet; a sister-in-law, Janet Sohrweide; many other relatives and friends.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Jerome "Sonnie" (Levina), Vernon "Bud" (Norma) and Edward; sisters: Virginia Abel, June Heinz, Joyce (Les) Wellhoefer, Charlotte (Howard) Taggart, Doris (George) Kellnhauser, Diana Schroeder, and Bonnie Peterson; numerous brothers- and sisters-in law. A special remembrance is made for a deceased sister-in-law, Rosalie (Sy) Swederski, and friend, Rita Major.
Respecting Charles's wishes, no visitation or service will be held. Private prayers on his behalf are appreciated.
Memorials for Charles can be expressed by spending time with shut-ins.
