Daniel Edward "Mouse" Meisenhelder
Daniel E. Meisenhelder, 66, Kaukauna, beloved husband, father, and grandpa, passed away peacefully on April 3, 2013, at home after a short battle with cancer. Dan was born in Antigo on April 25, 1946, and spent many of his adolescent years there. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army in the 9th Infantry Division during Vietnam and returned safely to Antigo in 1968. He met his wife on New Year's Eve in 1968, but he didn't know her name until February of 1969. Daniel was united in marriage to Beverly Schwiesow on August 22, 1970, in Antigo. They moved to Little Chute where Dan was employed by Allis Chalmers in Appleton, and he remained with the company through many name changes for 30 years until Metso closed their doors in Appleton.
Dan loved stock car racing and drove the #4 car on the quarter mile tracks at Wisconsin International Raceway and Francis Creek during the 1980's. He also loved deer hunting with his family and friends in the Antigo area. Dan also enjoyed wood working, camping, and campfires.
Daniel is survived by his wife of 42 years, Beverly; daughters: Laura (Jeffrey) Taylor and Jill Goergen; three beloved grandchildren: Kylie and Colton Taylor, and Alli Goergen; a sister: Judy Wanca, Antigo; a brother: Steven (Ann) Meisenhelder; Pikeville, NC; and many other relatives and friends.
Daniel is preceded in death by his mother and step-father: Mildred (Randall) Staves, and an infant daughter Janis Kay in 1971.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 6, 2013, at Verkuilen Funeral Home, 101 Canal St., Little Chute. Interment will be held at Riverside Cemetery, Appleton, where full military honors will be performed by Kaukauna's VFW
#3319 and active duty members of the U. S. Army. Visitation will be held Friday at the funeral home from 5:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again on Saturday at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. A memorial has been established in Daniel's name.
Daniel's family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of the wonderful doctors and nurses that took such good care of Dan, and to the entire staff at ThedaCare at Home Hospice.
