Daniel Thiel(1942 - 2014)

Daniel Harry Thiel

Daniel Harry Thiel, of Weyauwega, WI, age 71, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 21, 2014. He was born December 18, 1942 in the Town of Weyauwega, son of Edwin and Verna (Kapitzke) Thiel. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Peters Ev. Lutheran Church in Weyauwega. Being born and raised as a hardworking Wisconsin farm boy would set Daniel on life's path and be the cornerstone for how he lived his life. His love of the land and Wisconsin was his bedrock. This farmer work ethic propelled Daniel to become a man most loved in the world of Wisconsin agriculture due to his honesty, integrity and perseverance. We know him as someone who can fix anything!

Daniel graduated from Weyauwega High School in 1960. He loved working with area dairymen, hunting, and spending time with family and friends. After graduation and a short stint at Benson Corporation of Weyauwega, Daniel returned to his Wisconsin agricultural roots. He would spend his entire life working with dairymen throughout Wisconsin selling or fixing products that assisted them with their way of life. In 1964, he started working for Madison Silos. During his career at Madison Silos, he went from crewman to crew foreman to salesman to part owner. In 1988, he went to Badger Plastics & Supply of Plover, WI where he furthered their capabilities of applying plastics into the agricultural field. Making other people's lives better was his greatest gift to all of us.

In 1962, he married Lucie Hahn. Together they had three sons, Paul, Matthew, and Jason. In 1989, he married Susanne Perigo. With the addition of this extended family, Daniel enjoyed traveling, going to Brewer games, and seeing his many grandchildren and great grandchildren grow up.

Daniel was a good son, husband, father and grandfather. If you came to his place on the weekend he was always tinkering in his shop trying to fix a problem someone may have. His work ethic, love of outdoor activities, and time spent with family and friends is where he found solace. Over the last few years he really enjoyed traveling and seeing new sights. Besides work, he loved volunteering for the White Lake Aeration Conservation Club and was instrumental in establishing their annual winter fisheree.

Survivors include his mother Verna; wife, Susanne; children Paul (Pamela) Thiel, their children Joshua and Stephanie; Matthew Thiel; Jason (Jennifer) Thiel, their children Caitlyn, Carley, Amelia, and Alec (Big Al); Melanie (Tim) Heller, their children Benjamin, Brian, Anthony, Jessie, Timothy Jr., and Christopher; and Shawn (Teresa) Beauchamp, their children Shane, Desiree, Kimberly, and Cory; 14 great grand-children; sister Carol (Duane) Hanson; brother William (Sharon) Thiel; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
