Reichwald, Delma I
Delma I. Reichwald, age 93, of Chilton, died on Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at Century Ridge in Chilton. She was born February 15, 1920 in the Town of Charlestown, daughter of the late Henry & Mae (DeVoss) Stumpenhorst.
She married Vernon Reichwald on June 15, 1940 at Ebenezer United Church of Christ; he preceded her in death in April of 1993.
For 46 years, Delma worked for Hofmeister, Engler & Engler Law Office and Twohig Law Office. During this time, she also proudly worked and managed the family homestead. She had retired once at the age of 65 but found that after a year she missed the day to day office administration and she returned to work. In 2001, at the youthful age of 81, Delma decided to officially retire.
She was a member of Ebenezer United Church of Christ and was a former member of the Rebecca Lodge and the Business & Professional Women's Club of Calumet County. Delma was a strong and loving woman who was relied upon as the rock of the family; she was always the one who offered kindly advice and a compassionate ear, which pulled her family through the many events that life can bring.
She was a voracious reader, enjoyed crocheting, and looked forward to trips both here and around the world.
Survivors include her children: Carl (Jean) Reichwald, Karen (Bill) Goeser, John (JoAnn) Reichwald; 6 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter: Jean Keuler; a grandchild: Pamela Reichwald; and a brother: Wallace Stumpenhorst.
Funeral service will be at 11:00 am on Saturday, March 16, 2013 at Ebenezer United Church of Christ (44 W. Washington) in Chilton with the Rev. Kathy Rust officiating. Burial will follow in the Hillside Cemetery. Friends may call at the church from 9:00 am until 10:45 am on Saturday, March 16, 2013.
Delma's family would like to thank the entire staff of Century Ridge and the Calumet County Hospice for all of the loving attention and care that was given to her.
