Kossel, Donald A.
Donald A. Kossel, of Neenah, age 89, passed away July 25, 2014, at Brewster Village. He was born in the Town of Clayton on October 11, 1924 to the late Edward and Verona (Reitz) Kossel.
After a brief courtship, he married Clarabelle (Piller) Sorensen on December 8, 1979. He and Clair worked side by side in a successful hog farming operation until they officially retired in 1993 and built a new home on the family farm. They enjoyed traveling, especially taking fishing trips. Clair preceded him in death on September 6, 2006.
Donald served in the U.S Army in WWII
in the occupation of Japan. After the war, he farmed with his father and also worked at Kimberly-Clark Badger Globe from where he retired in 1981. He was a member and past president of the Larsen-Winchester Lions Club. For a number of years the club built wheel chair ramps in Donald's shed.
Donald is survived by his step-children: Janice (Robert) Williamsen and Peter (Shirley) Sorensen; grandchildren: Steve (Liv) Williamsen, Anita (Mike) Pemberton, Kim (Joe) Clohessy and Randy (Carrie) Sorensen; great-grandchildren: Ethan and Luke Williamsen, Violet, Patience and Anthony Clohessy, Ashley (Andy) Kozlowski and Amanda Apker; great-great grandsons: Ryan and Julien. He is also survived by his sister, Sharon Hoelzel; sisters-in-law, Lucille and Ruth Kossel, and many nieces and nephews.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents and wife; siblings and their spouses: Dale (Ardis), Lawrence, Ruth, Delores, George, and Tom Hoelzel.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 1, 2014 at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 1140 Tullar Rd, Neenah. Visitation will be at the church from 9:30 AM until the time of the service. Interment will take place at the Town of Clayton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established for the Larsen-Winchester Lions and Gloria Dei Church.
