Leslie Barnett Taneri, was born in Corpus Christi Texas in 1957. She passed away on January 27, 2013 at Theda Clark Hospital in Neenah, Wisconsin. Leslie is survived by her mother, Joan M. Ogle and her step-father, Peter W. Ogle and her sister, Terrel Ann Barnett and her fraternal grandmother, Jesse Mae Nelms. She was preceded in death by her father, CDR Charles E. Barnett, a Naval Aviator, who was killed in action over Vietnam in 1972.
Leslie graduated with honors from Lemoore High School in 1975. She was an accomplished member of the gymnastic team and was the school mascot and head cheerleader. She is a graduate of California Polytechnic State University at San Luis Obispo with a B.S. degree in Industrial Engineering. During her Co-op periods she worked at NASA
, Dryden Flight Research Center and participated in engineering design work for the structure of the space shuttle instrument landing system.
In 1981 she was recruited by Procter & Gamble as manufacturing line manager and then was promoted to a product development position in Cincinnati. She left Procter & Gamble in 1993 to join Kimberley Clark as a Senior Research Scientist. For the next few years she traveled to customer manufacturing plants in the Philippines, Thailand, Formosa, Malaysia, China and Korea.
In 2000, Leslie returned to work nationally for KC's Family Care New Business and was an inventor on US and International Patents concerning a method of manufacture of paper tissue.
Her recreational activities over her lifetime included skydiving in college, white water rafting in Africa, hunting in Mississippi with her grandmother and fishing in the Sierra Nevada and Canada and a true Packers Fan!
Leslie's loves of her life were her dogs, bicycling, reading and being with friends and family. She joined the Big and Little Sister Mentor program during her early years at the Procter & Gamble plant in Modesto, California where she established a life-long commitment with her Little Sister, Crystal.
