Herzfeldt, Lester G.

Lester G. Herzfeldt, age 95 of Neenah, passed away early Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at Theda Clark Medical Center. He was born July 21, 1918 to the late Walter and Clara (Winske) Herzfeldt in Greenville. He spent most of his childhood with his mother and grandparents in the Town of Royalton, Waupaca County and graduated from Little Wolf high School in 1936. In 1941 he moved to Neenah, where he met Joyce Behm, and married her in Waupaca in January of 1946,

Lester was employed for 43 years at the Neenah Foundry, retiring as a Quarter Century Club patternmaker in 1984. He also served on the Board of Neenah Foundry Credit Union for 30 years and was an Alderman for the city of Neenah for 10 years where he served on the Park & Rec Commission, Police & Fire, on the Finance Commission and the Water Commission. He also served on the Board of Revenue as well as many other committees, owned and operated Herzfeldt Realty for many years, and was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church since 1946. In his freetime, Les enjoyed golf and woodworking.

Lester is survived by his wife Joyce; his son, Kim Lester (Cindy) of Aurora, CO; four grandchildren: Chad, Heather, Brian and Kelly; his great-granddaughter, Drew Marie; and his daughter-in-law, Kay Herzfeldt. He was preceded in death by his son, Jan Paul.

A memorial service for Lester will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, March 13, 2014 at Neenah's Westgor Funeral Home, Rev. Clarence Harms officiating. Inurnment will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
