Demerath, M. Loretta (Zemlock)
M. Loretta (Zemlock) Demerath, 97 of Neenah, formerly Ocala Florida, went peacefully to the Lord Saturday morning, March 8, 2014 at Brewster Village in Appleton. She was born February 5, 1917, daughter of the late George and Catherine (Koskie) Zemlock, of Hewitt Street, Neenah. She attended grade school and junior high school in Neenah. In 1932 her dad accepted a foreman's job at a paper mill in Marinette, WI and Loretta attended the first two years of high school at Marinette High School. Her dad had another job promotion requiring another move this time to Peshtigo where she graduated from high school in 1935. Her favorite subjects were math, English, and gym. She enjoyed running track and she spent her life eating healthy.
Loretta was a wonderful caregiver, caring for her mother for 19 years, until the time of her death.
Loretta was a valued employee at every place she worked, starting at age 14 at the Peshtigo Newspaper and retiring in 1975 from Kimberly Clark in Neenah, Badger Globe Extension as a statistician.
She married Sylvester H. Demerath in 1975 and became a mother to 4 boys; Robert, Michael, James, and John. She was a beloved grandmother to 10 grandchildren, 5 boys and 5 girls and many great grandchildren. Loretta and Sylvester moved to Florida in 1978. They enjoyed spending time together, playing cards, games, and going to flea markets.
Loretta is survived by her family, Fred Ladner, Karen Schrage, and Edward Schrage; sons, Michael (Judy) Demerath, Appleton; James (Linda) Demerath, Neenah; John (Barb) Demerath, Appleton; 5 grandsons, Mark Demerath, Scott (Kina) Demerath, David (Chloe) Demerath, Eric Demerath, and Brian (Alyssa) Demerath; 5 granddaughters, Lisa (Ted) Schmalz, Penny (Morgan) Mullin, Michelle (Dan) Krause, Julie (Chad) Hoerth, and Diana (Chris) Clapp; 18 great grandchildren.
Loretta is preceded in death by her husband, Sylvester Demerath; her brother, Edward Zemlock; her sister, Adeline Schrage; her niece, Judy Ladner; her son, Robert (Nancy) Demerath; and many other family and friends.
A memorial service will be held 5:00 PM Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at Valley Funeral Home, with Deacon Don Wetzel officiating. Inurnment will be in St. Margaret Cemetery, Neenah. Loretta's family will receive friends and relatives on Wednesday from 3:30PM until the time of service. A memorial fund is being established.
