Marie Lamers Balgie
Marie Lamers Balgie, 94, Little Chute, passed away peacefully at Brewster Village on Monday, November 12, 2012, surrounded by her loving family. She was born June 22, 1918, in Marion, daughter of John and Frances Van Grinsven. She married Robert J. Lamers in 1942. He preceded her in death. She then married Paul Balgie in 1970, who also preceded her in death.
Marie was a lifelong member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, Little Chute. Marie enjoyed sewing, golfing, bowling and gardening. She worked many years as a cook for Jacks or Better, formerly Hammen's Bar.
Marie is survived by 7 children: Shari (John) Johannes, Sandee (Gene) Gritton, Lynn (Rick) Searles, Lyle (Cindy) Lamers, Cliff (Diane) Lamers, Carla (special friend Steve Lutzewitz) Zeinert, and Donna (Darrel) Wittmann; and 4 step-children and their families.
Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren include: Randy Weber; Mari Hammond (children Ryan and Allison); Jenny (Chris, son Ben) Alfonso; Julie (fiancé Chris Frohliger) Johannes; Bryan Gritton; Karen (Darrin, children Ashley Barry, Lindsey and Jeremy) Kader; Devin Gritton; Amy (Rick, children Lexie, Nathan and Grace) DeWeert;, Jon (partner Andrew Bellows) Searles; Ben (Nancy) Lamers; Nate (Erin, children Griffin, Hudson, & Adia) Lamers; Ann Lamers; L.J., Randi, and Kyle Mott; Sara, Bob (Amanda), Andy & David Zeinert; Michael and Emily Wittmann.
Marie is further survived by a sister, Frances Vander Pas; and a sister-in-law, Arline Lamers, and numerous nephews and nieces.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, and siblings John (Lorraine), Grace (Wally) Schaefer, Ted (Josie), Mart (Betty), Joe (Eunice), and Robert (Ruth Wnuk) Van Grinsven, and 2 infant sisters; brothers- and sisters-in-law Tony Vander Pas; Clarence (Merla) Lamers; Theresa Lamers; Jeanette Lamers; Jerry Lamers, William Lamers, Gordy (Marge) Lamers; and Irma (Pete) Van Toll.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Thursday, November 15, 2012, at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, 323 Pine St., Little Chute with Fr. Ron Belitz officiating. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery, Little Chute. Visitation will be Thursday at the church from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the Mass. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Marie's name.
