Nicholas, G. Karras, age 90, passed away Monday, February 3, 2014 at Cherry Meadows Hospice Facility. He was born on February 10, 1923 in Chicago, IL, to the late Constantinos "Gus" and Pauline (Pentazou) Karras. Nick served in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1947, during which time he met his wife of 67 years, Ursula (Roseken). Nick owned and operated Karras' Restaurant, an Appleton landmark, for 47 years. Nick was one of the founding fathers of the St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in Appleton. As a member of the Masons, he attained the rank of Templar Knight. He was instrumental in the development of Plamann Park during the 12 years that he served on the Outagamie County Board. After his retirement in 1995, Nick and Ursula traveled and settled in Arizona for 10 years before returning to Appleton in 2008.

Nick is survived by his wife, Ursula, and will be sadly missed by his children; Michael (Peggy) Karras, Stan (Julie) Karras, Nick Karras, Pam (Tom) Huss, Nancy (Dan) Kohlman, Steve Karras, Tina Karras, Bill (Chris) Karras, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is further survived by his brother George (Mary) Karras and sister Diane BeKearis, as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Nick was preceded in death by his brother William Karras and daughter in law, Julie Karras.

Funeral services for Nicholas will be held at 1:00PM, on Friday, February 7, 2014, at the Star of Hope Chapel in Highland Memorial Park with the Rev. Chris Kirkeris officiating. Friends and family may call at the chapel from 11:00AM until the time of service. Entombment will follow services with military honors.
