Richard J. Beck "Dick"
Richard J. Beck, 101, Neenah, died Sunday, May 26, 2013, at Bridgewood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Neenah. Dick was born on March 26, 1912, in Milwaukee, son of John C. and Winifred (Pleva) Beck. On October 9, 1942, Dick was united in marriage to Patricia Murphy, in Milwaukee. Dick was a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps in Eagle River from 1934 to 1936. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army
in December of 1953, after obtaining the rank of Master Sergeant from his time spent in the American Theater and the Asiatic-Pacific Theater WWII
. Dick loved the North Wood's; enjoyed his dogs throughout the years, and was a member of the Neenah Model Railroad Club. He was a member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, Neenah. He will be remembered for caring for his children, calling Pat "an angel," and telling stories of his life adventures.
Dick is survived by his two daughters: Barbara Johnson and Mary (Chris) Christensen, both of Neenah; three sons: Dick (Bettie) Beck Jr., Jacksonville, AK; Tom (Mary Ellen) Beck, Neenah; and Paul Beck, LaCrosse; seven grandchildren: Chris (Jennifer) Johnson, Dan (Amanda) Johnson, Thomas (Lisa) Beck II, Jonathan Beck, David and Laura Christensen, and Alex Beck; four great grandchildren: Maximilian Beck, Isaiah, Josiah, and Elijah Johnson; and many relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents and wife, Richard was further preceded in death by his stepmother, Anna Sadowski; a brother, John Beck; a sister, Genevieve Ginger; and son-in-law, Michael Johnson.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 13, 2013, at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, 620 Division Street, Neenah, with Fr. Michael Ingold officiating. Interment will take place at St. Margaret Cemetery, Neenah. Visitation will be held Thursday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass. Following the Mass, Full Military Honors will be presented by members of the U.S. Army and Neenah Menasha Veterans
