Cox, Richard D.
Richard D. Cox, "Dick" of Neenah, age 86, passed away peacefully on Wednesday. February 19, 2014. He was born August 10, 1927 in Valley, WI, son of Basil and Pauline Caucutt.
Dick graduated from Hillsboro High School. He enjoyed life on the farm with his parents and his two sisters: Marlice and Christine. After graduation he joined the US Army
and was in the Signal Corps, serving during the occupation of Japan from 1946-1947.
Dick moved to Neenah and held several jobs with local paper mills. In 1948 he married Gwendolyn Diedrich. They were married for 39 years until her passing in 1987. Dick especially loved spending time with his family and was truly proud of his children. He treasured spending time with his grandchildren.
Dick became a Wisconsin State Trooper in 1956 and served until 1982 when he took early retirement. On September 10, 1988, he married Margaret Mischler. They spent many happy years traveling in their RV to Branson, Nashville and all across the US, and then spending winters in Florida. He especially loved their trip to Scandinavia.
Dick was a good husband and father, so kind and loving to everyone. He loved to share his stories of his travels and spending time with his family. He had many friends and always liked to hear a good joke. Dick enjoyed his morning breakfast at McDonalds with his friends. He volunteered for many years with the Boys' and Girls' Brigade.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret; two children: Christine (David) Ulmen, Anthony (Linda) Cox; six grandchildren: Daniel (Erin) Ulmen, Greg Ulmen, Julie Ulmen, Nicklaus (Lisa) Cox, Joseph Cox and Malorie Huguet, Shannon Cry; two great-grandchildren: Chandler and Evelyn Cox; his two sisters: Marlice Anklam, Christine (Jim) O'Brien; a sister-in-law, Colleen Russell; seven step-children: Mark (Kathy) Mischler, Thomas (Sandy) Mischler, Sandy (John) Dreissen, John (Sue) Mischler, Diane (Al) Morse, Sharon (Don) Dedering, Debbie Olson; 18 step-grandchildren; 19 step-great-grandchildren; and a brother-in-law, Al (Judith) Pedersen.
Dick was preceded in death by a sister, Glendabelle Caucutt.
The Mass of Resurrection will be held at 11:30 AM on Monday, February 24, 2014, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 320 Nicolet Blvd., Menasha, with Fr. Jim Hablewitz officiating. The visitation will be held at the church from 10:00 AM until the hour of service. Interment will be in St. Margaret's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers a memorial is being established in Dick's name.
