Rita Fehrman, age 82, of Clintonville, Wisconsin, won the battle over several health challenges she faced in later life, when she passed into eternal life in the loving arms of the Great Physician, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on July 8, 2013. She was blessed with a wide circle of faithful family members, relatives, and friends.
As a child, Rita was raised in Gillett, WI, where her father held a practice as a physician. Upon graduating from high school, Rita attended Augustana College in Chicago, with the intentions of following in the footsteps of her mother, who was a nurse. She married Lyle Fehrman in 1953. They later moved to Menasha, where she held an administrative position for Edgewater Paper Company for several years until she and Lyle decided to raise a family. They lived in Menasha until Lyle semi-retired, and they moved to Embarrass.
Throughout the years, Rita and Lyle enjoyed entertaining either at their primary residence or their cottage in Townsend. Guests always looked forward to eating Rita's cooking and were entertained by her commentary throughout their visit. She was very active in her church and her community, where she was a master organizer and served as President of Ladies Aid, banner committee leader, and thrift store volunteer. She enjoyed painting ceramics, making wreaths, hats and other crafts. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Embarrass and was previously a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Menasha. She also attended St. John Lutheran in Townsend when she was at the family cottage.
Rita is survived by her husband, Lyle of Clintonville; son, Karl (Zsuzsanna) Fehrman and grandsons Kirkland and Tyler of Fredericksburg, VA; son, Mark (Kerry) Fehrman and granddaughters, Faith and Jenna and grandson, Tucker of Wausau, WI; brother-in-law, Dr. Dale R. Drew; sister-in-law, JoAnn Berg; several dear cousins, nieces and nephews. Rita was preceded in death by her parents, Walter Richard Berg and Viola "Babe" Berg; sister, Betty Berg Drew; and brother, Walter Richard Berg.
The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation and gratitude to the outstanding staff at Angelus Retirement Community and Pine Manor Nursing Home for their professional and unending care and all-encompassing love they showed Rita throughout the health battles she faced.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 13, 2013, at 11 a.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church in Embarrass with Rev. Todd Jerabek officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery also in Embarrass.
Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. A memorial fund has been established in lieu of flowers. The Eberhardt-Stevenson Funeral Home & Crematory of Clintonville has been entrusted with Rita's arrangements. An online guestbook can be found at www.eberhardtstevenson.com
Rita will be remembered and missed by many.
"Well done good and faithful servant!"
