Robinson, Susan J.
Susan J. Robinson, age 82, passed away on Saturday, March 15, 2014 at Brewster Village. She was born on October 25, 1931 in Juda, Wisconsin, daughter of the late Carl R. and Frieda E. (Erb) Schmerse. After graduating from Brodhead High School, Sue furthered her education, earning her teaching degree from the University of Wisconsin at Whitewater in 1953. On April 13, 1957 she married Millard D. "Robbie" Robinson in Brodhead, Wisconsin. Their marriage was blessed with three children and 48 years before he preceded her in death on December 20, 2005. Sue was the director of Twin City Nursery School, and a very active member of Faith United Methodist Church in Neenah, where she served on countless committees and taught Sunday School for 50 years.
Volunteering was a huge part of Sue's and her family's lives. She was a founding member of Best Friends of Neenah/Menasha in 1972, and a Past President of the Board of Directors, and of the Auxiliary. She was a very active member of Women's Club, a site coordinator of the S.H.A.R.E. Food Co-op program for 26 years, the YMCA Board, Tri-County Ice Arena Board, Meals on Wheels, VNA Flu Clinic, Family Services Association, Lake Lucerne Camp Committee, and several other organizations, too numerous to list. Sue was a recipient of the Pickard Award for lifetime volunteering, the Neenah Rotary Club
Service Above Self Award, and she was named Outstanding Young Woman of the year in 1967.
She will be sadly missed by her children: Holly Robinson, Neenah, Mark (Emily) Robinson, Milton, Marty (Ann) Robinson, Appleton; four grandchildren: Ben, Sam, Nick, and Kelly Robinson; her sister's daughters: Jayne Hezner and JoEllyn Witke; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Kathy Krause.
The Funeral Service for Sue will be held on Friday, March 21, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at Faith United Methodist Church (1025 Tullar Road, Neenah) with Rev. Tim Albrecht officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday, March 20 from 4:30 until 7:30 p.m. at Neenah's Westgor Funeral Home, and again on Friday at church from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of service. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Sue's name would be greatly appreciated to Best Friends of Neenah/Menasha.
