Wochos, Viola "Vye' L.

Viola Swintosky Wocho, 98, of Appleton, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on February 25, 2013, at Homestead Ridge Memory Care Community in Glendale, Wisconsin.

Vye was born on May 10, 1914, at home, in Kewaunee, Wisconsin, the daughter of Joseph and Mary Swintosky. She had three older brothers, Tony, Emil and Ed, and one younger brother, Joe. All predeceased her. Vye's life span included attending "The Footbridge" rural school in West Kewaunee, Kewaunee High School, and the University of Wisconsin School of Nursing, where she earned her nursing degree in 1934.

On June 10, 1939, Vye married the love of her life, Arnold "Arn" Wochos, who preceded her in death in 1999. Vye's career included various areas of nursing. She did private home nursing, hospital work, and was also a public health nurse. Vye worked as an Appleton public school nurse until she retired.

In addition, Vye had a passion for sewing, doing art and craft projects, and sharing them with others. Vye and Arn were also avid Green Bay Packer supporters. They were season ticket holders for more than 50 years.

Vye will be remembered as a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She is survived by her three children, Paula Roemer, Mary Kachinko, and Walt (Sharon) Wochos. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Amy, Sarah, and Mark (Kendra) Wochos, Bethann (Clarke) Feber and Heide Foley, Andrew (Ulla) Roemer and Kelly Roemer, as well as eight great-grandchildren, Lindsey and Alex Roemer, Jonathan and Julia Roemer, Maraen Foley and Joshua Ferber, and Barrett and Ellen Viola Wochos.

Vye's memorial service will be held at a later date.
