Wayne R. Gillis, Sherwood, age 61, died unexpectedly on Monday, March 31, 2014 at Appleton Health Care Center. He was born on October 8, 1952 in Appleton, son of the late Royal and Marie (Stommel) Gillis. Wayne was a graduate of St. Mary's High School in Menasha, Class of 1970. He operated the family farm in the Town of Menasha for several years until establishing his business of Country Auto Repair which began behind the doors of his own small garage. For over 30 years he was the proud owner and operator of the business, through which he served and befriended many members of the community. Wayne was a member of the Sherwood Lions Club, Town of Harrison Volunteer Fire Dept. and served as a member of the Harrison Athletic Association.

He is survived by a daughter, Stephanie (Jeff) Federwitz and their children: Payton, Maxwell, Taylor, and Claire; 2 sons: Troy Gillis and his children: Mackenzie and Mason, Nathan (Jaclyn) Gillis and their children: Alexander, Isabella, Emerson, and Olivia; 4 brothers: Patrick, Ken (Kathy), Tom (Barb), and Mike (Liz); 4 sisters: Kathleen (Darren) Carley, Virginia (Wally) Freund, Mary Jahnke, and Colleen (Tom) Williams. He is further survived by 4 sisters-in-law: Barb Kieso-Gillis, Barb Schreiber-Gillis, Barb Robley-Gillis, and Gloria Gillis; a brother-in-law, Jerry (Barb) Weyenberg.

He is preceded in death by his parents; 4 grandchildren: Samuel, Jordan, Gabrielle, and Jacob Federwitz; 4 brothers: Gerald, Pete, Dan, and Jack; a sister, Judy Weyenberg, a brother-in-law, Earl Jahnke; and a niece, Teri Sanders.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 3, 2014 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, N369 Military, Sherwood with Fr. Michael Betley officiating. Friends may call at Boettcher Family Funeral Home, 2401 Fieldcrest Dr., Kaukauna on Wednesday, April 2, 2014 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with a Parish Prayer Service concluding the evening. Friends may call again on Thursday directly at church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in his name.

Wayne was a loving father, grandfather "Papa", brother, and friend who will be dearly missed.
