Roger A. Neubert

Roger A. Neubert, 83, Darboy, formerly of Sheboygan, passed away Friday, November 23, 2012, with his family by his side after a courageous battle with heart disease. He was born July 27, 1929, in Sheboygan, son of David and Amanda (Hiersemann) Neubert. Roger married Darlene Senkbeil on June 27, 1953, and she preceded him in death on June 5, 2008. Roger was a long-time and active member of St. John United Church of Christ, Sheboygan, where he served on several church committees. He later joined Christ the King Lutheran Church, Combined Locks. He was a master woodworker who enjoyed making his family many quality handcrafted wood pieces. Roger was an avid reader, enjoyed golfing, bowling, and watching sports. More recently he volunteered at the Grothe Center, Appleton Medical Center. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War and a member of the VFW 9156, Sheboygan. Roger loved spending time with his grandchildren along with attending their activities.

Roger is survived by his children: Debra Neubert and Larry Leak, Clarksville, MD; Scott Neubert and Nancy Hagen, Nashville, TN; Jim and Julie Neubert, Appleton; his grandchildren who were his pride and joy: Emily Leak; Lyndsey Hagen; Kristin and Laura Neubert; brother-in-law, Kenneth (Phyllis) Senkbeil, Sheboygan; sister-in-law, Rosemary Senkbeil, Sheboygan; nieces, nephews and other relatives.

His parents preceded him in death.

Memorial services will be held at 11:30 am, Saturday, January 5, 2013, at St. John's United Church of Christ, 1248 Lincoln Avenue, Sheboygan, with Rev. Gregory S. Whelton officiating. Visitation will be Saturday at the church from 9:30 am until the time of the service. Interment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Sheboygan. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in Roger's name.

Roger's family wishes to thank Roger's care team from Theda Care at Home, along with Dr. Ebben, nurse Terri, and staff for their wonderful care and compassion.

My deepest sympathy to all of you. I got to know Roger when Darlene was at the same nursing home as my mom. He was a delightful and friendly guy. Always enjoyed chatting with him. I often wondered how he was and was very sad to learn of his passing. I will remember him fondly.

I got to know Roger and his wife at the nursing home where my mother also resided and just recently wondered how Roger was doing but never went to the phone to call. So sorry to know he wasn't well and I also want the family to know you have my deepest sympathies. I thought he had such a nice family which I met at his wife's funeral a couple of years ago.

Roger was a great guy and will be missed. Many evenings he would walk across the road and spend time with me talking about cars and different projects he was working on. He was a good friend and neighbor.
