Alice Philomen Rossey, nee Moravec, age 85, was called to her rest on January 18th, 2014, at Sterling House of Neenah, surrounded by the love of her family and the caring staff at Sterling House.

Alice was born in on March 1, 1928, in Shevlin, MN, daughter of the late John and Esther (Dolan) Moravec. Alice grew up in Bear Creek, WI, and lived her life as a resident of Wisconsin. She was a graduate of New London High School and spent her working life as an executive secretary, retiring from Wisconsin Tissue Mills of Neenah in 1988.

Alice married Robert Rossey in May of 1948, and together they raised four children in the Mackville area. Alice and Bob spent their retirement years in Red Granite, living there until Bob's death in 1994, when she moved back to the Fox Valley. Alice was known for her volunteer work, especially at St. Joe's Food Pantry and in helping adults learn English as a second language. She was also known for her love of gardening and bird watching, and found great joy in the natural world.

Alice is survived by her children: Mary Lou (Bruce) Beihoff; Madison, Patricia Butt; Neenah, Michael (Terri) Rossey; Shiocton, and Susan St. Peter (Brian Fallon); Neenah; grandchildren: Mark Schmidt, Niki (Ken) Wood, Gerald VanRyken (Andrea Crisp), Jack (Stefanie) Rossey, and Chelsea St. Peter; and great-grandchildren: Sarah and Charles Wood, Hayden Rossey, Jadyn Schmidt, and Gabriel VanRyken. Alice is additionally survived by her brother Donald (Betty) Moravec and sister Rose O'Bright. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Robert; brothers John and Raymond Moravec; and sister Agnes Poad. Alice was also preceded in death by her beloved friend and companion Adolf Bruette.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:30 PM on Saturday, January 25th, 2014, at ST. EDWARD CATHOLIC CHURCH, N2926 STATE HWY 47, APPLETON, with Fr. Dan Felton officiating. Alice's relatives and friends may visit at the church from 11:30 AM until the time of service. Burial will be at St. Edward Catholic Cemetery, Appleton. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Humane Society in Alice's name, as her love of animals was a lifelong constant.

The family wishes to acknowledge and thank the staff of Sterling House of Neenah, in particular Tiffany, whose loving care was instrumental in making Mom's final days dignified and peaceful. Our deepest gratitude is also expressed to AseraCare Hospice and Mom's nurse Tammy, whose gentle hand touched and comforted us all.
