Christopher White, 43, passed away suddenly at his home in Champaign, Ill., on Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2012.
Chris was born in Kirkcaldy, Scotland ,on March 4, 1969, son of John and Janet White who now live in Neenah, with his younger brother, Andrew. He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
Chris's early life was in Billericay, Essex, England. He moved to the USA in 1984 and lived in Cincinnati until he moved to Wisconsin in 1988. Citizenship was one of his aims and he was the first in his family to become a U.S. Citizen.
He attended UW-Oshkosh and received his B Sc in Computer Science (with a minor in Japanese). Later he went to University of Illinois to study Philosophy where he received his Masters degree.
After graduating from Oshkosh, he worked in the software development business for a computer graphics company, then moved into business computing, programming and systems analysis work. His love of learning made him decide to change careers and switch to Philosophy and thus the move to Champaign.
Chris loved reading, reading, and more reading but he also loved playing games particularly Chess - he played in local and state tournaments. When he came back to Neenah, he often enjoyed a few hands of Bridge with his parents and friends. He loved being outdoors, running, playing Frisbee Golf and spending time by the lake. He also loved travelling to new countries, learning new languages. At school in England, he was an exchange student with his German pen-pal, Peter and they continued visits for several years. As an undergraduate in Oshkosh, he worked as a host/tour guide for visiting Japanese students.
Writing became one of his great hobbies and he kept a daily journal and tried his hand at poetry.
A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 11, at 7 p.m. at Valley Baptist Church, 3600 N. Chippewa Street, Appleton, WI, Pastor Larry Creamer officiating.
