Clarence Rockey Obituary

Rockey, Dr. Clarence J. Dr. Clarence J. Rockey, 83, Green Bay, passed away peacefully at his home on April 13, 2012. He was born in Green Bay, Wisconsin on March 2, 1929. Clarence and his wife, Agnes, were married for 63 wonderful years. He is a veteran of the underage military service, shortly following World War II and the Korean War. During a career as a computer scientist, Clarence designed and implemented dozens of computerized systems for industries. Later, associated with Teledyne Brown Engineering, Inc., he worked with military weapons systems and the NASA space shuttle programs. Clarence and his wife spent a year on the island of Kwajalein assisting with the Strategic Defense Initiative. Dr. Rockey taught undergraduate and graduate courses in the Wisconsin and Alabama University systems. He authored a textbook published by Wm C. Brown Publishers in 1975. After retirement in 1994, he wrote a twenty-volume novel, Carlisle Trace, published by lulu.com. "Rockey" enjoyed playing golf and bridge with family members, going dancing with his wife, reading a good book, and cooking delicious meals. He always finished the daily crossword puzzle and loved to tell jokes and make people laugh. Clarence was a big fan of the Green Bay Packers, and even attended the very first Super Bowl game with his wife. He is survived by his wife, Agnes (McMahon) and their ten children, Mary (Kevin) Rudie, Daniel (Dianna), Dennis (Tina), Edward (Connie), David (Linda), Jeanette Apland, Susan (David) Torbenson, Sally (Lance) Hanson, Gail (Edmund) Measom, and Nancy (Charley) Dye. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Lee Nushart and Marge Collins; and two great aunts, Priscilla Herald and Dolly Queoff. Clarence was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Francis Rockey; two sisters, Carol Kuchenbecker and Shirley Timm; and one brother, Donald Rockey. A memorial service for family and friends to celebrate his life will be held on Saturday, May 26, at 10:30am at Appleton Memorial Cemetery Chapel. A military honor guard will follow the memorial.
