Bakkom, Clifford N.

Clifford N. Bakkom, age 93, of Appleton, formerly of Fremont, passed away on Tuesday, September 10, 2013, in Appleton. He was born on April 10, 1920, in Zenda, Wisconsin, the son of the late Osmund and Emma(Olsen)Bakkom. On June 21, 1941, Clifford married Madelene Garloff. He served his country in the US Army Air Corps during WWII, piloting the B17 bomber. Clifford farmed in the Lake Geneva area for 18 years, before he and Madelene moved to Fremont, in 1971. Madelene preceded him in death on April 30, 2012. Clifford obtained his Bachelor's Degree from UW-Madison, and then received his Master's Degree from UW-Whitewater. He was employed by US Soil Conservation for 4 years. Clifford then taught at FVTC for 15 years, before retiring in 1985. He was a member of St. John Ev. Lutheran Church in East Bloomfield where he was a former elder and church president. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking and carving. Clifford is survived by three children, Judith Lynn, Monona, WI; Denis(Barbara)Bakkom, Chattanooga, TN, and Debra(Thomas)Ehrenberg, Howards Grove, WI; nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren, a sister, Jean Bakkom, Sharon Springs, NY; and many dear friends. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2013 at 11:00 Am at St. John Ev. Lutheran Church, 8580 37th Ave., Fremont. Rev. Paul Fritz will officiate. Visitation will be held on Saturday, at the church, from 9:00 AM until the time of service. A memorial fund has been established for St. John Scholarship Fund and St. John Ev. Lutheran Church.
