Tatro, Dan G.

Dan G. Tatro, age 92, went to his heavenly home surrounded by his family on Sunday, February 23, 2014. He was born on February 13, 1922 in Phlox, WI; son of the late Louis and Agnes (Narlow) Tatro. He came to Neenah from Antigo in 1941 and was employed by Hafemeister Machine Corporation. He entered the service on October 13, 1942 and honorably served his country as a military policeman with the U.S. Army during WWII in the European Theatre, England and the Battle of the Bulge. After the war, Dan returned to Neenah and was again employed by Hafemeister Machine Corporation. He retired after 46 years as Office Manager in January of 1987.

On October 11, 1947 he married Lorraine Kiesow at Trinity Lutheran Church in Neenah and they had two children, Dianne and Terry.

Dan always had a smile for everyone and made friends easily. He enjoyed bowling, polishing his car, traveling and loved spending time with his family and friends. Dan was an active member of Trinity since 1947. He was the oldest living member of the Men's Aid Society, served as church treasurer and on many other committees. Dan and Lorraine also belonged to Merry Makers Dance Club and a Square Dancing Club.

He will be deeply missed by his wife, Lorraine Tatro; children, Dianne (Larry) Niemuth and Terry Tatro; grandchildren, Lisa (Todd) Kelly and Paula (Jason) Flanner; great grandchildren, Erica (Greg) Suchyta, Marissa Soufal and Logan and Lily Flanner; brother, Lyle (Peg) Tatro; brother in law, Gerald (Germaine) Kiesow; nieces, Juliann Plutz, Sharon (Mike) Losselyong and Susan Tatro; nephew, Louis (Tammy) Tatro and family friend, Jim Groth. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Elyce, Viola, Esther, Gertrude, Charles and Hugh.

Family and friends may visit at the church on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Full military honors will be held at the church following the service.
