Smith, Edgar J.

Edgar J. Smith, age 72 of the Township of Union, Waupaca, passed away on Thursday, August 1, 2013 at the Appleton Medical Center.

Edgar was born on May 16, 1941 in the Township of Union, the son of the late Harold and Thelma (Tellock) Smith. He graduated from Manawa High School. Edgar served in the U.S. Army from November 10, 1962 until his discharge on November 24, 1965. After his discharge from the service, he returned to live in the Township of Union. Edgar later married Virginia Starks. They later divorced. While farming in the Township of Union, Edgar had worked at the F.W.D. Seagrave Corporation and then at Atlas Conveyor both in Clintonville. He enjoyed antique tractors, farming, fishing, boating and talking about his Army days. His memberships included the Disabled American Veterans, Chapter 53, the Am Vets., New London and a long-time member of the Union Threshermen Club, Symco.

Survivors include: His step-daughters: Adrienne (Eddie) Landrum, Clintonville; Melanie Dankert, Weyauwega; Wendy (Terry) Dankert & Jenny (Bob) Pelky, Clintonville. His step-sons: Rocky Behreandt, Filch, MI; Ricky (Sue) Behreandt, Tigerton; and Peter (Betty) Luckow, Clintonville. His special companion of 30 years: Chloie Luckow, Bear Creek; 17 step-grandchildren, and 18 step-great-grandchildren. His sisters: Lillian Halverson, West Virginia, and Mildred (Ken) Brighum, Combined Locks. His brothers: Richard (Kathy) Smith & Tom (Mary) Smith, Symco.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Susan Kuehl, his brothers, John & Harry Smith and a step-grandson.

Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Saturday, August 3, 2013 at the Eberhardt-Stevenson Funeral Home & Crematory, Clintonville with the Rev. Greg Sorensen officiating.

Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 1 P.M. until the time of the service.

Military Honors will be provided at the funeral home by the D.A.V, Chapter 53, the American Legion Post # 63 and the V.F.W. Post #664 of Clintonville.
