Polakowski, Gerald Jerome (Jerry)

Gerald Jerome (Jerry) Polakowski, 82, Appleton, Wis., entered eternal life on Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2013, as a result of an automobile accident. Jerry was born in Red Granite, Wis., on June 11, 1931, to the late Joseph and Lena (Hodel) Polakowski. On May 14, 1955, he was united in marriage to Barbara J. Clendenning in Wautoma, Wis. Together the couple enjoyed 58 years of marriage.

Jerry was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Darboy.

He served his country in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953.

Jerry enjoyed 22 years of retirement from Kimberly Clark.

He loved gardening, lawn work, hunting, pontooning at Legend Lake, helping his son on the farm and spending time with his grandchildren. Above all, he loved people and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. One could always count on Jerry for a smile and a laugh.

He will be sadly missed by his wife Barbara; children, Gerald Jr. (Sharon) Polakowski, Randy (Karen) Polakowski; grandchildren, Craig (Toni), Kevin (Hannah), Nick (Jess), Noah (fiancee, Karissia); stepgrandchildren, Tina (Jeff) Dupey, Mike Maguire; great-grandchildren, Dominic, Kayla, Hayden, Carlie, Claire, great-stepchild, Kenzie Dupey; and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and four brothers.

A memorial service will be held at noon on Saturday, Nov. 2, at the Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Kimberly. A time of visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the memorial service begins.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of the second floor ICU at Theda Clark and also to Calumet County EMS, Fire Department, Theda Star and the Wisconsin State Patrol for the compassionate care given to Jerry ensuing the accident.

Jerry was a tissue donor-giving the gift of life.

Jerry's wife, Barbara, asks that in lieu of flowers, money be donated to Zakowski Motorsports-Breast Cancer Research, W5596 Hwy 114, Menasha, WI 54952
