Gilbert Joseph Vosters

Gilbert Vosters, age 92, of Freedom, passed away on August 13, 2014 at home with his loving family at his side. Gilbert was born on June 20, 1922 to Martin and Anna (DeGroot) Vosters. On August 7, 1947 he was united in marriage to Isabelle Vandenberg and they celebrated 67 years last week. He was a member of St Nicholas Church in Freedom, where he was on the board as trustee for 4 years. He served in the Army as Corporal during WWII in Europe from 1944 -1946. Gilbert was an active lifetime member of the VFW post #7692, Honor Guard for the American Legion post #258, and member of Knights of Columbus Post #8061. In 1950, Gil & Isabelle bought a dairy farm in Freedom. Even into his retirement, (1987) he still loved to help out and work the land. Gil & Isabelle's special times included attending church, playing cards with their children, family and friends, Friday fish fries, and enjoyed driving in the country, taking in the sites of farm activities. He truly loved his family and nature.

Gilbert is survived by his loving wife, Isabelle and their twelve childen: Karen (Charlie) Breitzke of Florida and their son Travis (Casey) Breitzke; Diane (Bob) Froehlich of Freedom and their children, Stacy (Tim) Lenz, Jason, Adam (Mary) Froehlich; Janet (Cal) Stapel of Kimberly and their children, Nicholas, & Tony (Brianna) Stapel; Emily (Bob) VandenHeuvel of Black Creek and their children, Tina (Dan) Kasten, Brenda (Mike) Riska, Andrew (Sarah), Aaron (Emily) VandenHeuvel; Ethel (Gary) Gonnering of Freedom and their children, Nathan (Michelle) Gonnering, Jennifer (Brad) Arndt, Matthew, & Whitney Gonnering; Christine (Bill) Kohrt of Freedom; Cindy (Gary) Scheelk of Freedom and their children, Ryan (Katie) Scheelk, Mandy (Luke) Farrell, and Missy Scheelk & fiance' Bryan Lacy; Mark (Jodi) Vosters of Freedom and their children, Austin, & Seth Vosters; Glen (Kris) Vosters of Freedom and their children, Derek, & Alex Vosters; Vicki (Dick) Krueger of Appleton and their children, Alisha, Joshua, & Jena Krueger; Shelly Vosters of Appleton; Kevin (Angela) Vosters of Freedom and their children, Luke, Ashlyn, & Lauren Vosters;

Also surviving are 18 great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Bill Ambrosius; brothers: Arthur Vosters and Simon Vosters; a sister, Theresa (Jim) Spierings; sisters and brothers-in-law: Jen Vosters, Marion Vosters, Pearl Pleshek, June (Merlin) School, Joan Schultz, and James Hoffman; and many nieces & nephews.

Gil was preceded in death by his parents, Martin & Anna Vosters; his daughter, Beverly Ambrosius, and his infant twin daughters; and granddaughter VandenHeuvel; father and mother-in-law, Nicholas & Gertrude Vandenberg; his brothers: Ves (Jane) Vosters, Andrew (Calixta) Vosters, Norbert Vosters, Bill (Eunice) Vosters, Ernest Vosters; his sisters: Liz (Norb) Becker, Agnes (Gordon) VandeHey; brothers and sisters-in-law: Arlene Vosters, Zeta (Nick) Huisman, Emery Mollen, Jean (Ted) VanDera, Yvonne Hoffman, Margie Vandenberg, Douglas (Carol) Vandenberg, Roy Pleshek, Bill Schultz.

Friends may call the Verkuilen Funeral Home, 101 Canal St., Little Chute, on Monday, August 18, 2014, from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. with a parish prayer service at 7:30 p.m., and again on Tuesday, August 19, 2014, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, W2037 County Road S, Freedom, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass at 11:00 a.m. Full military honors will be performed immediately following the Mass by Freedom VFW Post #7692 and Jacob Coppus American Legion Post #258.
