Walker, Gordon deCourcy

Gordon deCourcy Walker, age 98 of Appleton, passed away Thursday, August 14, 2014 in Appleton. He was born January 17, 1916 to Marie L. Gates of Rochester, NY and adopted by Norman and Kate (Reeve) Walker in early 1920's. He was husband to Mae Boettcher for 8

years. She preceded him in death from Polio with infant son Donald. On May 3, 1952 he married Iola Mae Goldbeck. Gordon graduated from Lake Forest Academy, attended Lawrence College and graduated from the University of Wis., LaCrosse. He served WWII as an aviator Captain in the US Marine Corps, flying the F4U Corsair. He taught school in Wilmette, IL, became an architectural draftsman working at Orbison and Orbison Engineers and S.J. Baisch & Assoc. He later returned to teaching at St. Bernadette and retired at Xavier High School. He had a witty sense of humor, enjoyed matting and framing his wife's watercolors, traveling the US and abroad, golfing (Riverview CC & FVCC), hooking rugs and time with the local theatre group, "The Foolish Pretenders".

He was the loving father of Jill Ann Liebscher, Appleton, William (Judy) Walker, Manawa, Katherine Laura "Kit" Walker, Scott Walker, both from Port Townsend, WA, Paul Walker, Appleton; David (Kathleen) Walker, Long Beach, CA, 9 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Gordon was also preceded in death by his parents, son William (June, 2014) and many family pets. The family thanks long-time

neighbor from River Dr., Dennis Graf, and Manor Care for their support.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00AM, Wed., August 20, 2014 at All Saints Episcopal Church, 100 N. Drew St, in Appleton with Rev. Patrick Twomey officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00AM at the church until the service. Charity is important to Gordon & Iola Walker.
