Jack Haldeman
Jack Haldeman, 87, of Neenah, passed away peacefully on Memorial Day, Monday, May 27, 2013, at the Bridgewood Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. He was born October 20, 1925, in Neenah, son of Emil and Sophia (Haber) Haldeman. Jack graduated from Neenah High School, Class of 1943. He won a state title in wrestling while a member of Neenah's wrestling team. Jack served as a Corporal in the United States Marine Corps during World War II, where he took part as a tank gunner during the battle over Iwo Jima. Jack remained a member in good standing in the Marine Corp. Association & Foundation throughout his life. In 1947, Jack married Ruth Pawlowski and they spent the next 65 years in wedded bliss. He was employed at American Can for 40 years until his retirement in 1985. Even though Jack liked to fish and hunt, his passion was gardening; Jack was a true farmer at heart. He had a huge garden that always yielded a cornucopia of fruits, flowers and vegetables - bounty that he generously shared with family and friends. The Tahitian squash he grew were sometimes so huge they needed to be carried with a wheelbarrow. He was especially noted for "Jack's Famous Raspberries." Jack was a member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, Neenah, and of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Neenah Post #10893.
Jack is survived by his loving wife, Ruth; two children: Greg Haldeman and Mary (Susan Dean) Spalding; grandchildren: Betsy Haldeman, Christine (John) Hughes, Eric Halde6man; great-grandchildren: Sawyer and Brady Hughes; and many other family members and friends.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents; a sister Delores (Charles) Bobinette; father and mother-in-law, Albert and Helen (Brodzinski) Pawlowski; brother-in-law, John "Blondie" (Gladys) Pawlowski; and sister-in-law, Felicia (Jerry) Laux.
Memorial services will be held at 12:00 noon, Friday, May 31, 2013, at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, 620 Division St., Neenah, with Fr. Michael Ingold officiating. Inurnment will be in St. Margaret Cemetery, Neenah. Visitation will be at the church on Friday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass. Following the Mass, Full Military Honors will be presented by members of the U.S. Marine Corps and the Neenah Menasha Veterans Honor Guard. A memorial has been established in Jack's name.
The Haldeman family would like to extend a heart-felt thank you to the nurses and staff at Bridgewood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center as well as to all of Jack's family and friends for their wonderful help and support.

Greg, Mary, Ruth......hardly a winter goes by when I don't tell someone about the ice slide our neighbor built that went all the way around his back yard! How fun was that for all of us. I think of Jack and that cute little smile he always had comes to mind as well. We sure have some grand Warsaw Street memories ....garage parties ..... Fireworks going every which way! So glad to have had you as neighbor's!
