Faltynski, Joan

Joan E. Faltynski, 73, Green Bay. On Saturday, May 4, 2013, an angel came down from heaven, took Joan by the hand and said, "Your work on earth is finished, it's time to come home."

She was born on October 16, 1939 in Green Bay to the late Frank and Helen (Kubiak) Faltynski. Joan was a graduate of St. Mary of the Angels grade school and St. Joseph's Academy in 1957. In 1958 she joined the Sisters of St. Joseph of the Third Order of St. Francis in Stevens Point and remained a member until 1969. She returned to Green Bay teaching elementary grades in the parochial school system for the Green Bay Diocese. Joan ended her teaching career as principal of St. Thomas Moore grade school in 1997. Joan was a member of the Order of Franciscan Seculars St. Ann Fraternity and served as its minister for nine years. In 1999 upon completion of her studies, she was commissioned by the Diocese of Green Bay in pastoral care. Joan was currently employed by St. Mary of the Angels as Minister to the Elderly. Her touch was felt by the parish in so many ways, as lector, Eucharistic Minister and church decorating as well as many other volunteer capacities. Following her retirement as principal, Joan came to join the Proko-Wall family where she became a vital part of our every day schedule. Babysitting funeral directors and sharing her ministry with the many families Proko-Wall was privileged to serve were only a couple tasks Joan took as her own. Her duties and support were endless. Joan never said "No".

She is survived by two brothers and a sister: Roger Faltynski, Green Bay; Richard and Jean Ann Faltynski, Appleton and Barbara and Eugene Van Lanen, De Pere; numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by four brothers: Frank Jr.(Grace), James (Helia), Clarence (Kate) and Bernard Faltynski; two sisters: Dolores Faltynski and Mary (Lloyd) LaPlante; sister-in-law, Bernice Faltynski.

Friends may call at the Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason St. from 4:00 - 8:00 pm Wednesday. Parish wake service 7:30 pm Wednesday. Visitation will continue after 10:00 am Thursday at St. Mary of the Angels Catholic Church, 645 S. Irwin Ave., until time of mass. Funeral Mass 11:00 am Thursday at the church with Fr. Patrick Gawrylewski, OFM, officiating. Burial in the Allouez Catholic Cemetery. On-line condolences may be sent to Joan's family at In lieu of floral expressions a memorial fund has been established in her name.

Joan's family would like to express their sincere gratitude to everyone at St. Vincent Hospital's ICU and the nurses and staff at Unity Hospice. Their care and consideration will always be remembered.
