Zolkowski, Joan

On December 13, 2013, I, Joan (Voss) Zolkowski, expired due to complications from cancer.

I enjoyed 56 years with my husband, Bunny, who preceded me in death on October 11, 2013. Bunny and I had many happy times at the Silver Spur Resort and traveling to favorite destinations, such as Arizona and Door County.

I went to Menasha High School, graduating in 1955. I married Bunny in1957. I worked at Marathon, Mid America Tag and Label, and retired from Kimberly Clark.

I have 2 major regrets. I could not give my husband children. We would have had such a good time raising them. The other big regret is that my dad passed before my sister and I got married. He would have loved the weddings and my sister's children and grandchildren.

I especially enjoyed my extended family, the Reimers, their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. We had so much fun over the years and spent every family event and holiday together.

I enjoyed all my in-laws: Richard and Lois, Don and Nancy, Jerry and Diana, and Jack and Nancy; as well as all of their children and grandchildren.

I am survived by my twin sister Joyce (Jim) Reiland, their children Jane (Vince) LiCata and son Tony in Baton Rouge, Julie (Millard) Kuykendall and children Leigh Ann and Sam in Texas, and Jill (Mal) Hepburn and son Jamie in Cedarburg.

I am further survived by my extended family, Dick and Char Reimer and their daughters Jan (Gale) Davey and children Cory (Molli) and Samantha (Craig) and son Max and Craig's children, Kathy (Jim) Mueller, and Lori (Todd) Zeier and daughter Kayla. Without them, things would have been much more difficult and not as much fun.

Life on Earth was good - friends, neighbors, and family were always welcomed in our home. I would like your memory of me to be of someone who so enjoyed gardening, keeping my house clean, and having a good time - martinis and all.

My memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, January 11, 2014 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 200 N. Commercial St., Neenah. Please come to visit at church from 9:30 A.M. until the hour of service. Bunny and I will be inurned at Highland Memorial Park.

I've got a special thanks to Char Reimer, my best friend who was with me through thick and thin. My thanks go to Dr. Goggins and his entire staff as well as the Theda Care Hospice Residence staff for helping me stay here so long after diagnosis. You all are truly angels.

I love you all.

Joanie Z.
