He is a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Dupont, where he volunteered as church treasurer, worked on numerous church projects, and helped raise countless funds for AAL. His interests included buying and selling antique farm tools and machinery. Lester's other favorite pastimes were cutting firewood, making horse collar mirrors, building benches out of barn board, and transporting Amish neighbors as needed.
