Mary Lederer Obituary
of Appleton, was called to her heavenly home Saturday, January 12, 2013. She was born April 24, 1915 in Racine, daughter of the late Arthur Peter and Nielsine Marie (Sorensen) Svendsen. In 1919, the family moved back to Fur, Denmark and returned in 1923 to Shawano, where her father owned and operated Svendsen's Bakery.

She graduated from Shawano High School and Green Bay School of Business. Prior to her marriage, she worked for several years as a bookkeeper for Van Dreese Motors in Green Bay. She married Rev. Kurt Lederer on May 10, 1941, sharing 41 years together before his death on May 21, 1980. She was a long-time member of Faith Lutheran Church.

She is survived by a daughter: Ruth Twedt, Blairsville, GA; a son: Kenneth (Lynn Kolbe) Lederer, Appleton; 4 grandchildren: Jennifer Mulloy, Egan, MN; Dr. Susan Lederer, Houston, TX; Dr. Matthew (Lora Zimmer) Lederer, Appleton; Katie Lederer, Houston, TX; 2 great grandchildren: Emma Frederick, Egan, MN; and Eva Lederer, Appleton; a sister: Ebba Olson, Shawano; a sister-in-law: Helen (Rev. Herbert) Jaster, La Crosse; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by 2 brothers: Gordon and Vigo; a son-in-law: Dean Twedt and a daughter-in-law: Kathryn Lederer.

Services will be held 3 p.m. on Saturday, January 19, 2013, at Faith Lutheran Church,601 N. Glendale Ave., Appleton, with Rev. Daniel Thews officiating. The visitation will be from 2 p.m. until the time of service at the church. Burial will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery, Shawano. Memorials may be directed to Faith Lutheran Radio Ministry or Faith Music Ministry.

The family would like to express their thanks to the entire Staff at Renaissance Assisted Living, especially, Nicole, Jessica, Bridget and Karen for the gentle love and care Mary received during her stay. We would also like to extend a special thank you to Edith Kolbe for the support she gave to Mary each and every day.
