Rolland D. Peterson, 83, Neenah, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family and friends on Friday, April 18, 2014, at Bridgewood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Neenah. He was born in Minneapolis, MN, on September 18, 1930, son of Clayton and Ada (Lange) Peterson. Pete honorably served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Following his time in the service, Rolland went on to receive his master's degree in engineering. He worked as a maintenance engineer for 3M Corporation for many years, and retired in 1998. On July 2, 1977, Pete was united in marriage to Gloria Jean (Handrick) Woodkey. Pete was a wonderful man with a gentle soul, who loved life, and had a great sense of humor. He was an avid fisherman, football fan, and gardener.

Rolland is survived by his wife of 36 years, Gloria; his three children: Marty, Rollie, and Jody; a step-daughter: Kim Woodkey; several grandchildren; brother: Lyle (Gwen) Peterson; sisters-in-law: Grace Handrick, Geri Hoeser, and Mary (Dale) Mitchel; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Rolland was preceded in death by his parents; a brother: Wesley (Betty) Peterson, a nephew: David Peterson, and his two cats: Cali and Kietter.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 26, 2014, at the Kessler Funeral Home, 304 S. Commercial St., Neenah, with Rev. Battista Ceresero officiating. Visitation will be Saturday at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Immediately following the service, full military honors will be performed by active duty members of the U.S. Army, and the Neenah-Menasha Veterans Honor Team. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Rolland's name.

Rolland's family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the staff at Bridgewood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, and to Rolland's roommate of the last 5 ½ years: Bill Ward, for making his time there comfortable and enjoyable.
