Barber, Vera

Vera Barber, Kimberly, age 85, passed away at her home on July 7, 2013. She was born August 2, 1927, in Uttoxeter, England, daughter of the late Annie and Arthur Taylor. She met and married an American serviceman, Curtis L. McDonald, in 1943 and moved to Chicago, IL in 1946. They had 3 children: Jillian, Marralyn and James McDonald. In February 1955, Curt passed away. She went to work to support her family and then met and married George W. Barber in February 1959. They moved to Matteson, IL and had 2 children, Kathy and Christopher. Vera attained her US Citizenship in 1966 and worked at Mulford Engineering in Chicago Heights until moving to Oconto Falls, WI in 1974. Vera enjoyed golfing, cross county skiing, sewing, and painting and made the best apple pie. She was an excellent cook and loved to have people over for holidays. She also loved to play bridge and poker. Upon retiring, Vera and George moved to Inverness, Fl. After George passed away in August 2006, Vera moved to Hallmark Place in Kimberly to be closer to her daughter, Kathy and son-in-law, Joseph. She loved spending time with family at King Lake and cheering on the Packers.

She is survived by her 4 children: Jill Hamann, Marralyn (Wally) Urycki, Jim (Terry) McDonald, and Kathy (Joseph) Ball; 8 grandchildren: Laura (Paul) Dale, Jennifer Hamann, Steven Hamann (special friend Deb), Ricky (Trish) Urycki, John Urycki, Carrie (Tim) Burns, Jared Ball, and Michael Ball; 8 great-grandchildren: Angela, Alisha and Emily Dale, Cheynne and Madison Urycki, Mason Urycki, Kevin Strzalka and Isobel. She is further survived by a sister-in-law, Kay Mulford, a niece, Debbie Whelton and a nephew, Steve Whelton.

She was loved and will be missed by many.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her 2 husbands, and a son, Christopher.

Private family memorial services will be held on Saturday, July 20, 2013.
