Arndt, Phyllis J.

Phyllis, age 85, passed away Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at the VNA in Neenah. Phyllis Jean Collier was born May 16, 1928 to Carrie Jean DeHart and Festus Collier, the 8th of 14 children in Polar, Wisconsin. She married Robert P. Arndt on September 18, 1948 in Neenah, WI. Phyllis spent most of her married life in Neenah raising 6 children. She worked for many years at the Red Owl, where she was a union officer. She also worked at various jobs, Oshkosh B'Gosh, Miles Kimball, Theda Clark, and Banta Warehousing. The most important thing in her life was her family. She never forgot to send out cards for every birthday, anniversary, get well, birth, and funeral. Many people don't know that she used to send out 150 Christmas cards and at least half of them had a letter enclosed. She made a point of visiting family in Rhinelander and Ohio whenever possible. She was instrumental in organizing several family reunions to keep the family ties strong. You would never see her without her camera and was known as the "camera lady". Her family was her life and she loves seeing everyone at any family function and didn't miss many. Her love of genealogy, family, traveling, and gardening kept her very busy.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Robert of Neenah, three sons, Walter (Susan) of Mountain Home, AK, Marlyn (Linda), and Arno (Amy) of Neenah; 2 daughters, Lana (Dan) Steinike, and Loretta (Darryl) Schmidt of Oshkosh. She is further survived by her grandchildren, Jason, Casey, Carrie, Jon, Lacey, Derek, Todd, Eric, Jay, Jessie, Joe, Wendy, Lance, and Holly; 18 great grandchildren; brothers, Dale and Lloyd Collier; sisters, Fran Plummer, Shirley (Basil) Everson, and Nancy (Robert) Elwood, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Carrie, grandson, Brian and several brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 28, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 200 N. Commercial St., Neenah. The Rev. Paul L. Holte will officiate. Family and friends may visit at the church on Monday from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. Inurnment will take place in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Neenah. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in her name to the would be greatly appreciated.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Sandy from Clarity Care for the friendship she shared with both Bob and Phyllis. You treated Mom with respect and compassion and we are deeply thankful. We would also like to thank the staff at the VNA for making Mom comfortable and loved - especially Pat - we don't know what we would have done without you. Sherie and Brenda from Lakeland - you guys are awesome, and to Heartland Hospice for letting Mom end her life with dignity and compassion. We do not want to forget all the other aides, nurses, and staff that helped Mom with her journey. We know Mom touched your lives in a positive way. A very special thank you to Mom's brother Lloyd, for never forgetting her and spending countless hours sitting and talking to her.
