Mavis J. Schinke

Mavis J. Schinke, age 83, of Appleton, Wisconsin, passed away after a four-year battle with cancer on Sunday, June 1, 2014. Mavis was born May 22, 1931, in Shawano, Wisconsin, to the late Frank and Freida (Martens) Sperberg. She was married to John Schinke, who preceded her in death in March of 1992. Mavis was employed at Wisconsin Tissue Mills for 29 years, retiring in June of 1993.

Survivors include her three children, Jim (Terri Sawall) Schinke, Bill (Betsy) Schinke and Joni (Gary) Keider; Grandchildren, Samantha Schinke, Brad Belland, Bo Schinke, Maddy Keider and Chris Keider; and sister Betty Fuhrman of Stoughton, Wisconsin. Mavis was preceded in death by brothers, Dewey, Llewelyn and Frank Sperberg; and sisters Beatrice Sperberg, Edna Anderson and Frances Aderman.

Our Mom was truly the essence of goodness and love. Her selfless optimism and sunny disposition lifted the spirits of all who knew her. Mavis's ability to overcome life's obstacles with faith and kindness will forever serve as the best example to her friends and family. Mavis adored her grandchildren and faithfully attended all of their activities giving them encouragement and guidance. We are all blessed to have called her Mom, Mother-in-law, Grandma and friend.

The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the Staffs of Emeritus Senior Living Facility, Heartland Hospice and St. Elizabeth's Oncology Department. We also thank the ladies at TOPS in Kimberly for their years of friendship and support.

A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, June 6, 2014, at STAR OF HOPE CHAPEL--Highland Memorial Park Cemetery, Appleton, with Rev. Lloyd Luedeman officiating. Friends may call directly at the cemetery chapel on Friday from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the memorial service. Online condolences may be offered at www.wichmannfargo.com
