Smith, Van A.

Van Smith, age 63, of Sherwood, passed away unexpectedly of a heart attack on Saturday, June 14, 2014. He was born February 8, 1951, to Loris Van and Billie Mary Smith in Milwaukee, WI. He graduated from the University of Colorado, traveled the country, and was a bit of a free spirit. Van married, had a son Tyler and moved to Sparta, New Jersey, because of his job as a writer and journalist. He loved sports and coached his son in wrestling, baseball and football. Van always remained a passionate Packer and Milwaukee Brewers fan, and loved to golf.

He is survived by his son Tyler J. Smith, his sister Val DeRuiter, Appleton, his Aunt Marge, Watertown, WI, and many cousins and their families.

Van's fun personality will be missed by his many friends and golf partners, always in search of that "perfect game".

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother-in-law Don, and a cousin Tom Nolan.

It was Van's wish to have no memorial or funeral services. The family has chosen Boettcher Family Funeral Home, Kaukauna to assist them.
