Larsen, Carl "Curly" Edward

Carl Edward Larsen, age 91, of Mosinee, formerly of Weyauwega, entered into eternal rest at Wausau Manor Nursing Home on June 22, 2014, following a brief illness. Carl was born on November 13, 1922 in Gladstone, MI to the late Edward and Alma (Gehnke) Larsen. On September 25, 1948 Carl married Corinne (Corky) Elfe at Mount Olive Lutheran Church in Suring.

In his early years, Carl worked for Cliff Suring in the floral greenery business. After he served in World War II, he farmed in the Suring area until March 1960 when he and his family moved to New London. He and his wife owned and operated Larsen's Bar in New London until 1974 when they moved to Lake Tahoe, CA. They moved back to Wisconsin in 1978 where they owned and operated the Wega Park Drive-In in Weyauwega until his retirement. An avid hunter, fisherman, and gardener, Carl enjoyed the outdoors as much as recounting his experiences in them.

Carl is survived by his two sons, Jay T. (Nancy) of Mosinee, Charles of New London; two grandchildren, Ben Larsen, Mosinee and Emily Larsen (fiancé Daniel Sweeney), Glendale Wisconsin. He is further survived by his brother James (Sue) Larsen, Crivitz; brother-in-law, Emmet Hebert, Baton Rouge, LA. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; a brother, Roger; and sister, Mae (Sue) Hebert; sisters and brothers-in-law Ruth and Richard Kolstad and Iris (Hon) and Howard McWhorter II; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Harold (Evelyn) Elfe and Erwin (Mabel) Elfe.

A Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Emanuel Lutheran Church, New London with Rev. Marcus Schulz officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Suring. Visitation will be held at the church on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
