Davis, Elsie Agatha "Aggie"

E. Aggie Davis, 91, formerly of Appleton, passed away on Friday, July 4, 2014 at the Alten Haus in Neenah, with her daughter by her side. Aggie was born on March 3, 1923 in Lillian, AL to the late Samuel and Gladys (Hinote) Shelley. Aggie was a true "Southern Bell" being raised and receiving her education in Florida. In 1942 she was united in marriage to the late James T. Davis, he preceded her in death in January of 1995.

Aggie formerly was a waitress at the American Legion. She was a member of St. John United Church of Christ in Appleton, and was very active in the Women's Guild. She was also a member and Past-President of the American Legion Auxiliary # 38. Aggie was also a member of the Past Presidents Parley. She enjoyed gardening; taking great pride in her up-side down tomato plants and the flowers she planted around her home. Aggie enjoyed watching sports, especially baseball. She especially enjoyed going to the American Legion League games and cheering on her team. Aggie collected wood carved animals, crocheted, was an avid reader, enjoyed doing puzzle books, and going to the casino. In her later years Aggie had quite the sweet tooth and cookies and candy were her pleasure.

Aggie is survived by her children; John P. (Judy) Davis of Kaukauna, Shelley Passehl of Neenah, and Brian J. (Emiko) Davis of Okinawa, grandchildren; Mick and Wade Davis and Nicole and Nathan Davis. She is further survived by nieces, other relatives and friends. Aggie was preceded in death by her parents, husband James, and 2 brothers John S. and Randall Shelley.

Funeral services for Aggie will be held on Friday, July 11, 2014 at 11:00 AM at St. John UCC 1130 W. Marquette St. Appleton, with Rev. Dr. Tom Fritz officiating. Interment will take place at Highland Memorial Park at 1:15 PM on Friday. Relatives and friends may visit with the family at CHURCH on Friday, July 11, 2014 from 9:00 AM until the time of service. The American Legion Auxiliary will gather at 10:30 AM as a group to pay their respects to Aggies family.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to either the American Legion Auxiliary or St. John UCC Women's Guild.

Aggies family would like to give a special thank you to the management, staff, and residents at Alten Haus Assisted Living, for all their care, kindness, patience, understanding and support during her stay.
