Fern Bernhardt Obituary
Bernhardt, Fern

Fern G. Bernhardt, age 79 of Clintonville, passed away Tuesday, July 7, 2014 at the Greentree Health and Rehabilitation Center, Clintonville.

Fern was born to the late William and Esther (Grueb) Habeck on January 31, 1935 in the Township of Heartland. She liked to reminisce about growing up on the family farm near Tilleda, WI. As a young girl, she was also involved in the Girl Scouts and active in 4-H. After graduation from Bowler High School, in 1952, Fern moved to Appleton to work as a bookkeeper for WPS. She met Arden "Butch" Bernhardt at church, where they were united in marriage on April 26, 1958. The couple lived in New London briefly before moving to Clintonville, where Fern enjoyed being a full-time mother to her three children. In her later years she found time to work again at B&H Footwear, Clintonville and Cobbler's Closet, Shawano. Fern was devoted to her family and loved to prepare large holiday meals that included wonderful desserts. She also enjoyed spending time and playing games with her grandchildren. Some of her personal hobbies included: reading, crafts, puzzles, baking, genealogy research, along with collecting Beanie Babies and salt and pepper shakers. Fern was loved dearly and will be greatly missed by those who knew her.
