Corr, Marjorie L.

MARJORIE (PEG) CORR, nee LEWIS, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loved ones on Thursday, July 17, 2014. Born May 23, 1922 in Racine, Wisconsin, she was the daughter of W. Turnor Lewis and Eleanor Bush Lewis. On October 2, 1943, Marjorie was united in marriage to Sgt. John T. Corr at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Racine, sharing 49 years together before John's death in 1993.

The young family moved to Neenah in 1951, where they founded and operated Corr Opticians until John's retirement in 1984. Peg spent many adventurous summers at the family lake cabin with John, their three daughters, beloved dog "Cindy," and often accompanied by numerous friends.

Peg's favorite pastime was playing piano, at times sharing the bench with her brother, Bill, for a duet. She shared her passion for classical music and opera with her girls and advocated its exposure to the very young. Peg's other interests were reading biographies, watching pro tennis, and cheering on the Packers. She was a member of St. Thomas Church.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband John, a brother, James B. Lewis, and sister, Nancy DeProfio. Marjorie is survived by her three daughters and sons-in-law: Nancy (Joe) Burleson of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas; Linda (William) Vander Heyden of Appleton; Kathleen (Dr. James) Dyreby of Rhinelander; her brother William T. Lewis of Racine, eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, with the ninth "on the way," and many nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved dearly.

According to Peg's wishes, there will be no formal services or visitation. Inurnment will be at Greenlawn Park in Neenah. Friends are encouraged to make a donation to their favorite charity in Peg's memory.

The family especially wishes to acknowledge and thank the wonderful caregivers from Valley VNA and ThedaCare Hospice for their loving care during Peg's final days.
