Grosskopf, Loraine A.

Loraine A. Grosskopf, 93 of Shawano, passed away Monday morning, July 21, 2014, at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King, WI. The former Loraine Stoehr was born September 13, 1920, one of 13 children born to the late Joseph and Theresa (Weber) Stoehr.

Loraine was born in Gresham, Wis. and enjoyed life growing up on her family's farm. After graduating from Gresham High School she continued her education by attending the Oshkosh Teachers College. After earning her teaching degree she taught in Colgate, Tilleda, Leopolis and later in Navarino. During World War II she worked for the United States War Department as an artillery inspector in Baraboo, WI.

She was united in marriage to Leonard (Lee) Grosskopf on June 21, 1947 and together they built their home on the Caroline Pond in 1956. There she enjoyed raising her children, hosting family gatherings, gardening, and spending time on the pond. Loraine was a member of St Mary's Catholic Church in Marion. In 1992, Lee and Loraine moved to Shawano, where she attended church at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, volunteered with the Auxiliary and Hospice, and enjoyed her many friendships at Elizabeth Manor. Loraine lived life to the fullest and loved spending time with family and friends. She especially enjoyed playing cards, watching the Packers, parties at the cabin and joining in the fun at the many camp outs she attended. She will surely be missed, but she will mostly be celebrated for her life.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Greg (Judy) Grosskopf of Red Granite; Dan Grosskopf of Marion; Jeff (Donette) Grosskopf of New London; Cynthia "Sid" (Doug) Burich of Weston, WI; Scott (Mary "Mur") Grosskopf of Waupaca; and Chris Grosskopf of Kingsford, MI.; 11 grandchildren, Michelle Hanford, Kate (Nick) Hurst, Neal Grosskopf, Bekah (Wesley) Tsai, Rachel (Scott) Seroka, Ruthie Burich, Reilly (Dan) Cordy, Joe (Bri) Grosskopf, Cory, Andrea and Evan Grosskopf; seven great-grandchildren, Makayla, Liam, Harper, Julia Loraine, Gavin, Siena and Reese; two brothers in-law, Fred Griep and Roy Fahly; two sisters in-law, Janice and Jane Grosskopf. Loraine is further survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee on November 7, 2001; as well as her six brothers and six sisters and five brothers and sisters-in-law.

A memorial service for Loraine Grosskopf will he held on Tuesday, July 29, at 11 a.m. at Mickelson Funeral and Cremation Service of Shawano. Father Luke Ferris will officiate. Private Inurnment will take place at a later date. Relatives and friends may call at Mickelson Funeral Service on Tuesday from 9 a.m. until the hour of service. In lieu of flowers and plants, the family has requested donations to the in the name of Loraine Grosskopf.
