Beck, Robert R.
Robert Beck, 88, Town of Clayton, passed away Friday, August 15, 2014. Robert was born July 23, 1926, Menasha, son of the late Nicholas and Mabel (Stielow) Beck. He graduated from Menasha High School in 1944, after which he served his country during World War II conducting a Special Service Orchestra. After his honorable discharge from service he moved to Milwaukee, to further his musical education. Robert married Norma M. Charlier on January 20, 1951, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Milwaukee. They shared 53 years together before she preceded him in death on January 20, 2004. Robert was a distributor for the V.E. Irons, Inc. health food supplement products for 50 years. He and Norma moved from Milwaukee to Neenah in 1966, and established Beck's Organic Produce Farm, growing real food, in conjunction with employment at the Badger Printing Corp. Robert and Norma were members of the National Health Federation for 35 years, the Wisconsin Food Association where Robert served on the board of directors for 15 years, and the Town of Clayton Zoning Committee for 10 years. He semi retired in 2001. Robert was a member of St. Gabriel Catholic Parish, Neenah.
Robert is survived by his children: Beverly Galke and Rev. Richard (Rev. Wendy) Beck; five grandchildren: Adam Galke, Monica (Jeramie) Johnson, Amanda (Richard) Harris, Tyler (Melonie) Beck, and Kelsey Beck; four great grandchildren: Collette and Leilani Harris, and Temprance and Fletcher Johnson; a brother: Delbert (Laverne) Beck.
In addition to Robert's wife and parents, he is further preceded in death by three brothers: Nicholas Jr., Russell, and Donald Beck.
Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, August 23, 2014, at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, 900 Geiger St., Neenah, with Fr. Larry Seidl officiating. Interment will be at St. Margaret Cemetery, Neenah. Visitation will be Friday, August 22, 2014, at the Kessler Funeral Home, 304 S. Commercial St., Neenah, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., and again on Saturday directly at the church from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass. Full military honors will be presented by the U.S. Army and the Neenah-Menasha Veterans Honor Team. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions appreciated to St. Gabriel Catholic Church, Neenah.
