Marian Paul Obituary

Marian M. Paul, 60 of Appleton died Sunday April 1, 2012 at Theda Clark Medical Center after complications with diabetes. She was born June 18, 1951 in LaCrosse, daughter of the late Stanley and Bernice (Ellingson) Mattison. Marian married Don Paul on May 25, 1991.

Marian worked for many years at Thrivent Financial. She enjoyed spending time with her family, either camping at Stockbridge, shopping, attending craft fairs with her sisters; and attending family reunions in LaCrosse. Marian especially enjoyed the time spent with her grandchildren, great nieces and great nephews. She loved all animals, especially birds and cats.

Marian is survived by her husband of 20 years, Don, Appleton; son, Brent Faas, Appleton; two step daughters, Tricia (Mike) Carew, Appleton, and Tina (Chris) Pritzl, Greenville; three grandchildren, Kaylynn, Brandon, and Ty; and a fourth granddaughter on her way; six sisters, Gloria Engler, Il, Sharron Modahl, Minneapolis, Marsha (Aaron) Alens, LaCrosse, Jane (Allan) Wrobel, Appleton, Lori (Michael) Fitzpatrick, LaCrosse, and Gretchen Kelley, Lodi; one brother, Michael (Donna) Mattison, LaCrosse; four Godchildren, Denver Anderegg, Derek Wrobel, Adam Fitzpatrick, and Patrick Rogers. She was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Ellen Deringer, brother, Gerald Mattison; three brothers-in-law Frank Deringer, Eugene Engler, and Walter Modahl; and sister-in-law, Peggy Mattison.

Funeral service for Marian will be at 11:00AM tomorrow (Wednesday April 4, 2012) at CHRIST THE KING LUTHERAN CHURCH (601 S. Washington Street, Combined Locks) with Rev. Ken Schaub, and Rev. Tim Krick co-officiating. Visitation will be held tonight (Tuesday) from 4:00PM until 8:00PM at Valley Funeral Home, and again tomorrow at the church from 10:00AM until the hour of service. Burial will be at Highland Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Marian's name to the local chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF), 1800 Appleton Rd Suite 2, Menasha, WI 54952.

Marian's siblings would like to give a very special thank you to her loving husband Don, and her loving son Brent for all their care and compassion.

I have know Marian since I was a little girl living across the street from the Mattison's in La Crosse. We spent many fun times together as adults before she found the love of her life Don....not to forget the other love in her life her son Brent. Brent, your Aunt Lori told me that you are a wonderful son to your mom! I will cherish my memories. My love to Marians family especially her sister Lori.
