Hopfensperger, PFC Arthur W.



PFC Arthur W. Hopfensperger, K.I.A. November 28, 1950, in Korea, finally will come home to be laid to rest. Arthur was born in Appleton, August 27, 1932, son of the late Raymond and Pearl (Filz) Hopfensperger.

Arthur joined the U.S. Army when he was 17. He served his country honorably during the Korean conflict in Bravo Company, 1st Battalion, 32 Infantry Division and was in Korea only a short time before being K.I.A.

Arthur's remains were positively identified in 2005, from a successful family DNA match, from his cousin, Elaine Lastofka, Appleton.

Arthur is survived by two brothers, Donald (Joyce), Appleton, and Steven; sister-in-law, Carol Hopfensperger, Appleton; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Family members of Arthur's whom has since died are his brother, Raymond; two sisters, Pearl Korth, Marie Belling; and a nephew, Adam Hopfensperger.

A graveside service with full military honors for Arthur will be at 3:00 PM on Monday October 8, 2012, at Highland Memorial Park, Appleton with Rev. Marty Koeller officiating.
